Collection Description

These are reflections on the emotions of a woman. The collection of spontaneous works tells the story of a modern woman who is trying to meet the demands placed on her by today's world. Torn between the dreams of a young girl and the hard reality of everyday life, she tries to salvage the hope that some of these dreams can be realized. On the outside, she remains composed, aloof, but cheerful. She has already learned to silence the emotions that tug at her. She accumulates them within herself. Perhaps she will reach for them in a moment of loneliness? Then they will become a driving force for her.

The compass for the sculptor is her own experiences. She analyzes them and expresses them by juxtaposing faces with abstract forms.

Biography

Aleksandra is an architect, sculptor, founder of a Warsaw based studio for architecture and sculpture. She started her career in France, working for the leading architecture studios in Paris: Christian de Portzamparc, Manuelle Gautrand Architecture, Wilmotte & Associés Architectes.

She had to deal with people with a strong vision, people that were uncompromisingly pursuing their goals. This awakened in her the desire to seek her own vision and to realize her own ideas. She designed and oversaw construction of the multi-family estate "Jardin des Arts" in Hyeres les Palmiers on the Côte d’Azur. She learnt first-hand how architectural creation is limited by economic constraints, embodied in developers’ financial objectives and she decided to move away from those constraints.

Although She thought about returning to sculpture while working as an architect, the decisive moment for her to take up sculpture full-time was the creation of the work "Ray of light" (2 meters high woman’s face). This work became a full-time exhibition at "Jardin des Arts" apartment complex in Hyeres les Palmiers on the Côte d’Azur.

The light of southern France has inspired and attracted artists for centuries. "Ray of light" depicts the moment of exposing one’s face to the sun, a moment of truly connecting with the energy and drawing strength from it. This sculpture is her turning point, her drawing on energy and finding courage within herself.
